* Watch out for predatory lenders. Times are desperate, and so are many borrowers, so unethical lenders are out in force. Spend some time researching which mortgage terms are considered reasonable, and which are red flags. If any mortgage you are offered appears to be even slightly odd or questionable, reject it. No refinance is worth being saddled with a bad loan for the next 30 years.
