Only a licensed broker can initiate an MLS listing, regardless of whether you are using no commission real estate services. Once your broker has taken care of the listings, you are free to place a For Sale By Owner sign on your lawn and directly answer inquiries about your property. This in itself can serve to attract potential buyers who would rather deal directly with the seller rather than work through a broker. Of course, you will still have to pay a standard commission to your buyers broker, but that amount will be thousands less than if you had sold your home under the traditional selling broker arrangement. You may even end up selling your home to someone who is also working without a broker.
